Syrian Cuisine
The Syrian cuisine especially focuses on spices and seasonal ingredients. The food culture in Syria has been around for centuries but it still leaves us wanting more. Here are the top 5 Syrian dishes.

2) Freekeh with Chicken- The dish is made up of toasted freekeh wheat thats cooked slowly with chicken stock, minced meat and spices, it's cooked until it's soft. It is plated with chicken pieces, nuts and almonds
3) Shawarma- Since it is a street food, there are shawarma stands everywhere. The way that the seller makes the shawarma is that a flat bread is held against the meat spinner. While this is happening, the flat bread is also getting grilled on the metal grill. Afterwards, its sliced in chunks and is added pickles and yogurt. This is all wrapped in the flat bread.
4) Maqloubeh- This dish is turned upside down after it has been cooked so it takes the shape of the pan. Maqloubeh is made up of vegetables, rice and meat. It can be spiced with the traditional spice made up of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, baharat.
5) Kibbeh bil sanieh- This dish uses fresh minced meat and is often made with fillings. It is made like a sandwich, between the two layers of minced meat, there is cooked and spices pine nuts. It's traditionally served with yoghurt, lemons and salad.
